Verdon: labs are speciating, xAI and Meta bet on usability while OpenAI chases frontier

After hands-on use, Guillaume Verdon says Grok Bot and Meta's new product are both very solid on usability, while OpenAI and Anthropic stay focused on the frontier. Building on observations that OpenAI is back in the lead, Grok caught up fast, Meta's product is in strong private beta, and Anthropic has gone quiet, he sees an interesting 'speciation' of AI labs.
