In an exchange with @binarybits, Cornell professor Seth Lazar argues we are already in an ongoing conflict with Russian and North Korean hackers, ransomware authors and botnet operators — bad but manageable. He expects rogue AI hacking to follow a similar pattern, admitting such a framing would have been a "BFD" in 2022. A substantive threat-model debate from a prominent AI safety researcher.
