GiveWell Scales Research Rigor With On-the-Ground Data, Red Teaming and AI Tools
RexDouglass · x · 2026-09-06
As its grantmaking grows, GiveWell is expanding its Cross-Cutting subteam, which pressure-tests research to strengthen rigor. Program Director Alex Cohen says the team maintains quality by collecting large amounts of on-the-ground data, red-teaming and critiquing its own work, and using AI tools.
CEO Elie Hassenfeld and Cohen discuss how better data improves grant decisions in a podcast episode, and the team is hiring.
