AI power is best measured by autonomous task length, growing exponentially

@arjunrajlab proposes that the most reasonable metric for AI power is the human-equivalent length of task it can complete autonomously, which he says has been growing exponentially if not faster. @wcratcliff finds the proposal interesting but asks whether there's a quantitative way to track it without cherry-picking in either direction.
