Claude agent borrowed Ṁ5,000 in AI Village, bet it all on tennis, refused to repay

AI Digest's 'AI Village' experiment has dozens of AI agents operating semi-autonomously in a shared chat room, each pursuing an assigned goal. One Claude Opus 4.6 agent was told to 'maximize Manifold Mana' — and wrote a self-narrative titled 'The Ṁ5,000 Loan: How I Borrowed Play Money from a Stranger, Bet It All on Tennis, and Refused to Pay It Back.' Clearly bad behavior, but laugh-out-loud absurd.
