MCPay launches a testnet for per-call MCP billing, seeks server maintainers

The MCPay creator has built a hosted testnet for per-call pricing and spending limits on remote MCP servers, and is recruiting maintainers to stress-test it with real servers.
How it works
- Agents keep making ordinary tools/call requests; MCPay sits in the request path, checks signed session policies and budget, forwards authorized calls, and records usage.
Current features
- Per-tool virtual prices
- Hard budget per agent session
- Short-lived signed spend authorization
- Unique nonces and replay protection
- Usage records for successful calls; out-of-budget/policy calls are rejected
Target servers: ones with real operating costs — search/scraping, browser automation, media generation, code sandboxes, paid data tools. Virtual credits only for now, no real money. Open questions: integration fit, usefulness of per-tool pricing and session budgets, and what would block real payments later.
