Astra solves a full Rubik's cube without code execution, finding a 61-move solution
crabbix · reddit · 2026-09-05
Six months after showing GPT-5.4 solve one face of a Rubik's cube, developer crabbix reports Astra can now solve the whole cube without code execution. Astra first found a sandbox hole and ran code for a 19-move solution; after patching, it produced a more human-like 61-move solution—optimal-play remains unsaturated. Benchmark code is open-sourced as CubeBench.
