GPT-6 Astra Launch Marred by Outages, OpenAI Hands Out Daily Token Reset Vouchers

新智元 · wechat · 2026-09-05

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra, topping ARC-AGI-3 and other benchmarks, with Greg Brockman declaring "welcome to the AGI era." Yet at launch nobody could use it—not even $200 Pro users—and ChatGPT and Codex suffered repeated outages, including several in Asia-Pacific.

To appease users, OpenAI's Tibo announced daily token limit resets until Astra actually shipped, and has issued 40 all-user reset vouchers so far ("Banked Resets" fully refresh both the 5-hour and weekly windows, are non-transferable, and historically expire in 30 days). Astra rolled out early the next morning.

Against tested retail prices ($5-8 for Plus, $50-80 for Pro), community estimates put each voucher's API-equivalent value at 10-40x retail—though like gym memberships, most users never max out. Under the pressure, Anthropic's Claude has also started resetting weekly limits.
