At Y Combinator Startup School, Boris Cherny, creator of Claude Code at Anthropic, advised users to delete their claude.md file, skills and hooks every 6 months and see what the model does — it might surprise you.
For Opus 5, he strongly recommends deleting all of these, as the model may no longer need the extensive instructions required by previous models.
