From messy 3D scans to artist-grade procedural scenes: Astra 'crosses the chasm'
bilawalsidhu · x · 2026-09-05
Bilawal Sidhu concluded his GPT-6 Astra testing: turning real-world 3D scans with messy topology into procedural 3D scenes modeled the way a human artist would has been a tall order, but Astra appears to have crossed the chasm.
The workflow used two 45-minute loops with a critic evaluating outputs against multi-view imagery of the input scan, and he planned to run it overnight to see how much closer it can get. He'll keep testing other techniques to push results further.
