Per TechCrunch, XDOF, a startup collecting real-world teleoperation data to train general-purpose robots, is in late-stage talks for a Series B led by 8VC at a valuation of about $1.2 billion — less than three months after exiting stealth.
- Founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu (CEO) and Fred Shentu (CTO); raised a $70M Series A in June from Thrive Capital, a16z, Lux, and Spark Capital.
- The company wasn't planning to raise again so soon, but annualized revenue approaching $50M drew VCs to it.
- Total round size and whether the valuation includes new capital remain unclear; terms aren't final.
