Claude Desktop update strips ListAgents/SendMessage tools from scheduled-task and Remote Control sessions
0u0v · ghdev · 2026-09-05
A user reports that after Claude Desktop auto-updated from 1.44121.4 to 1.46388.1, the built-in cross-session messaging tools ListAgents and SendMessage disappear from Code sessions launched as scheduled tasks or driven via Remote Control — missing from both the tool registry and the deferred-tool list, with ToolSearch returning no matches, ruling out permission rules.
Key evidence (same machine, same account, within hours):
- Desktop interactive Code tab: tools present (7 agents listed)
- Desktop scheduled-task session: tools absent
- Desktop Remote Control (phone-driven) session: tools absent
- Standalone CLI claude.exe v2.1.250: tools present (3 agents listed)
The author bisected via Squirrel update logs, pinning the regression to the 1.44121.4 → 1.46388.1 auto-update: a scheduled task successfully ran ListAgents and SendMessage hours before the update. Filed as bug, has repro, regression.
