Google research strategy exec says AI must be regulated, challenges are managerial not technical

Pilar Manchón, Google's senior director of research strategy, told Bloomberg Línea at ANDICOM 2026 in Cartagena that AI's challenge is managerial rather than technical: advancing responsibly and ethically so the innovation frenzy doesn't cross red lines. She said AI is here to stay, adoption varies by region and organization, and Google is democratizing access through training courses, certifications, and tools designed for non-technical users.
