Developer Uses Claude Code to Ship a Working F-Zero X Port to 3DS at Near 60fps
killermike523 · reddit · 2026-09-05
A developer spent three weeks with Claude Code to build gdx-3ds, an unofficial F-Zero X port for the 3DS based on community decompilation work. It runs in 3D at near 60fps half the time, dipping to 45fps in crowds. The project is almost entirely AI-generated, ships with a detailed postmortem covering process, metrics, and the author's mixed feelings about LLM usage, and requires users to dump their own ROM.
