Open-source MCP server brings offline Vedic astrology calculations to LLMs
Weak_Engine_8501 · reddit · 2026-09-05
A developer who works with both LLMs and Vedic astrology open-sourced LibreJyotish, an MCP server built for the exact problem that LLMs explain astrology well but confidently compute it wrong.
It covers natal charts, divisional charts (D1–D60), Vimshottari dasha, panchang, shadbala, ashtakavarga, transits, eclipses, and compatibility — all computed locally with Swiss Ephemeris. Fully offline after install: no API costs, no network calls at query time, a clear edge over existing closed-source or pay-per-call tools.
Usage: a single uvx librejyotish hooks it into Claude Desktop/Claude Code or any MCP client. AGPL-3.0, available on GitHub and PyPI.
