Role Weaver: Open-Source Tool Gives NWN Characters Persistent Memory and Personality
RoleWeaver · reddit · 2026-09-05
A Reddit user released Role Weaver, a free open-source tool for Neverwinter Nights: EE that gives characters persistent memory for the first time:
- Reads the game's conversation log and turns interactions into character memories, tracking relationships and past events
- Records what your character has learned, and lets you control what they shouldn't know
- Maintains distinct personalities and speaking styles consistent over long play sessions
- The LLM is "just the engine underneath" — the player chooses, edits or discards any suggestion
For DMs, it opens up persistent NPCs that remember prior player interactions and keep the same history and personality across different DMs. Supports Gemini, OpenAI, and fully local models via LM Studio. The author is looking for players and DMs to test it.
