Microsoft's Mustafa Suleyman announced MAI-Image-2.6-Flash, now live in Microsoft Foundry and MAI Playground. Microsoft claims it generates images 2x faster than GPT-Image-2 with 72% better GPU efficiency, delivering what it calls the best price-performance in the world.
The diffusion-based model, trained with flow-matching loss, targets both high-quality text-to-image synthesis and surgical image-to-image edits: targeted object edits, layout changes, text updates, artifact cleanup like motion blur, with visual consistency preserved across iterations.
