Astra Raises AGI Alarms: $10M GPU Cluster Could Topple Governments in 10-12 Months, Thread Warns
k7agar · x · 2026-09-04
LukePiette says only two model releases in three years have made him uneasy, and Astra is one of them. He admits he was wrong about his AGI timelines, estimating 10-12 months until things get serious.
His core concern: how brittle our infrastructure is. Banking, elections, and social security all rest on SQL databases staying secure — what happens when swarms of agents compromise every database, intentionally or not? He estimates that in a couple years one bad actor with a 64x B400 cluster ($10M) could topple governments, and those in charge aren't moving fast enough. k7agar strongly agrees.
