NVIDIA to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.93B as Team Publishes 100-Step GRPO Fine-Tuning Tutorial

Hugging Face co-founder Clement Delangue announced the intent to join forces with NVIDIA in a $12,930,300,000 acquisition, ten years after founding the company. He argues open-source AI is at an inflection point — proven as a complement and even alternative to closed-source APIs, but needing more compute, support and visibility to scale, hence the deal with the "King of American open-source AI." NVIDIA committed to strongly supporting Hugging Face going forward.
The same post also surfaces an HF tutorial published the day before: fine-tune the 350M LFM2.5 model with GRPO via TRL in just 100 steps (500 samples) on a free-tier Colab/Kaggle GPU, improving IFStruct benchmark structured-output compliance from 22.6% to 29.7%. Blog, Colab and GitHub materials are all public.
