Actual Computer CEO: Fable's restrictions are pushing users to own local models

On the MTS podcast, Actual Computer CEO Tom Lynch argued that self-hosting unlocks "spikes of intelligence" you only get when you own the capability. He pointed to Fable's restrictions as a turning point: requests for strong kernels, certain software, or reverse engineering open source models got rejected and redirected to Opus. Watching capable features get switched off in front of them, he says, opened many people's eyes to owning intelligence rather than renting it.
