ASML relies heavily on FPGAs, and Xilinx once caused major backlogs

PAstynome notes ASML's lithography machines use a lot of FPGAs. He recalls Xilinx being a huge bottleneck at his medical equipment employer, causing giant backlogs, and adds that FPGA engineers are hard to find. His takeaway: FPGAs are critical semis with real supply-chain risk.
