Nature review: AI now designs physics experiments that rival human inventions

Feyer's team published a Nature review, "Designing physics experiments with artificial intelligence," surveying how AI has moved beyond tuning a few parameters to proposing entirely new experimental layouts that often challenge established conventions while matching or exceeding human-designed setups.
The authors, including Mario Krenn, frame experimental design as a search for optima over a vast space of hardware configurations under practical constraints. They argue what's been demonstrated for physics experiments will extend to industrial hardware, yielding designs that outperform human inventions — the core thesis behind their startup Feyer.
