Polymarket has opened a prediction market on orbital AI data centers: only 2% odds of one launching by end of 2026, rising to 18% by end of 2027.
- Definition: any spacecraft carrying at least 100 data-center-grade AI accelerators (H100s, TPUs, etc.) into Earth orbit for cloud/AI compute
- SpaceX, Google, Blue Origin and Starcloud are all pursuing orbital data centers to bypass terrestrial power and cooling limits; Starcloud already trained a small LLM on an H100 in orbit in late 2025
- SpaceX has filed for up to one million satellites targeting 2027 tests and 2028 deployment; Google plans prototype TPUs in early 2027 via Project Suncatcher
