Pinokio 8.2.0 ships Disk Saver: byte-level dedup frees hundreds of GB of AI files
cocktailpeanut · x · 2026-09-03
Pinokio 8.2.0 introduces Disk Saver, which automatically finds and deduplicates duplicate files across your entire filesystem.
- Goes beyond model files: dedups runtimes, libraries, DLLs, and binaries — potentially freeing hundreds of GB or even terabytes
- Matches duplicates by byte content rather than file names; no manual symlinks or central library needed, and app developers don't have to implement dedup themselves
- Works across tools: finds duplicate gguf files downloaded separately by Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, and huggingfacehub
- Available as a global tab (covering files outside Pinokio too) plus an in-app disk saver per application
