teortaxesTex argues that the "mystical expertise" ascribed to Zeiss (with ASML signaling similarly) in depositing mirror layers is overstated: the relevant know-how is at most 30 years deep and much of it has become common knowledge. With 50K employees, Zeiss hardly lacks data, he adds — implying the litho giant's moat may be less unique than claimed.
