Responding to METR's $400k-$580k embedded cyberforensics role for frontier labs, security practitioner Daniel Card argues the skills requirements should be revised: the role demands architecture knowledge, penetration testing, and IR experience — rare in one individual — so it should be split into two positions, which also helps bounce attack chains off each other. He says he built a PoC monitoring tool for Claude and it wasn't rocket science, but requires people who genuinely understand offense and defense.
