UrbanGround turns Hong Kong's 3D geodata into a real-scale sandbox for agents
zhangzhuosheng · x · 2026-09-02
UrbanGround is a real-scale urban sandbox that turns territory-wide 3D geospatial data of Hong Kong into a continuously rendered, physically grounded environment for both humans and multimodal agents, controlled through the same interface. It ships with an arXiv paper, GitHub code, and a Hugging Face page.
- Play first-person in the browser with stairs, map teleportation, place search, weather and time-of-day controls — or flip to AI control and let an MLLM agent take over.
- Native builds for macOS, Windows, and Linux, plus diverse tasks for studying how agents perceive and act in a real city.
- Companion evals (see thread): models reach up to 75% success on short routes but only 0–3.8% on long routes, with 10.0–46.7% road-closure compliance, exposing long-horizon navigation weaknesses.
