A16z: Scaling LLMs Doesn't Buy Diversity of Thought or Taste
LucaAmb · x · 2026-09-02
LucaAmb retweets an a16z comment arguing that "a thousand AI mathematicians might be the same mathematician." Sampling a model a thousand times gives draws from one prior, not a research community. Productivity comes from diversity of approach, which scaling one model doesn't buy. Another underrated point: "Correct but worth nothing." Verification is cheap now, but taste isn't—deciding which true statements are worth proving remains scarce.
