A Year Later, LocalAI's Issue Tracker Is Run Mostly by Agents
IngwiePhoenix · reddit · 2026-09-02
Revisiting LocalAI after a year, the author found it moved from llama.cpp to its own vllm.cpp stack — and, more strikingly, the Issues tab is dominated by a single agent account, suggesting the project is now largely agent-driven with little human oversight.
He notes this doesn't necessarily mean bad quality (it still uses GGML under the hood) and asks r/LocalLLaMA whether anyone runs vllm.cpp and friends in production, inviting experience reports. An open discussion thread with no conclusions yet.
