Google releases MAPL-EMIT to track global methane leaks via satellite AI

Google published research in PNAS introducing MAPL-EMIT (Methane Analysis and Plume Localization with EMIT), a deep-learning framework that automates the detection, quantification, and source estimation of methane plumes globally using raw satellite data. It builds on Google's geospatial AI efforts to enable scalable tracking of localized point sources for climate goals.
