AMD's Primus tuning agent predicts config performance to save thousands of GPU-hours

PyTorch officially teased a PyTorchCon North America session: AMD's Anshu Raina and Peyman Razaghi will present the Primus Tuning Agent.
- Context: training a 671B-parameter model across a thousand GPUs normally requires running configuration after configuration, burning weeks of compute;
- Approach: Primus predicts how fast each option will run ahead of time from quick hardware benchmarks, finding the best setup without running them all;
- Payoff: thousands of GPU-hours of trial-and-error saved.
