Google Scrapped Gemini 3.5 Pro Candidates; Gemini 4 Training Still Months Away

According to the Wall Street Journal, Google scrapped internal Gemini 3.5 Pro candidates after they failed to show sufficient improvement over the Flash version. The next-generation model, Gemini 4, is still completing post-training, a process expected to take several months at a minimum. While Google has touted "great progress" on Gemini 4, the actual capabilities remain uncertain until training concludes.
