FrankenOCR App: Free, Open-Source, On-Device OCR Tool
doodlestein · x · 2026-09-02
The FrankenOCR app is now available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is free, open-source, and runs entirely on-device for privacy. It uses a Rust-based Unlimited-OCR engine to extract text from images and PDFs. The new version adds a Live Camera mode using Apple's Vision framework for faster, though slightly less accurate, recognition.
