Open Source MCP Tool Extracts Test Suites to Force Legacy Code Refactoring
Left-Yellow1047 · reddit · 2026-09-01
The author built a local MCP tool to solve the issue of Claude unable to work with legacy proprietary languages. The tool automatically extracts a test suite from the codebase and creates a configuration forcing the agent to adhere to it for a "one-shot" rebuild. The backend refactoring works well, and the frontend rebuild via Playwright and DOM extraction achieves about 80% accuracy. The author also published a paper on constraining AI to predetermined test suites during the process.
