Princeton creates light-programmable erasable semiconductor

Princeton Engineering researchers have created an ultrathin semiconductor that can repeatedly change its properties in response to light. Unlike traditional semiconductors whose conductivity remains largely fixed after manufacturing, this new material is responsive and adaptable. This is a step toward building more energy-efficient sensors, optoelectronic devices, and computing technologies. The team has created a one-inch square sample and is now working on building circuits.
