OpenAI and Netlify launch $35k WebMCP Challenge for agent-native web apps

OpenAI and Netlify are running the WebMCP Challenge on Devpost, centered on WebMCP — an emerging open standard that lets websites expose structured tools directly to AI agents instead of making them guess through UI, so agents complete tasks faster and more reliably.
- Prizes: $35,000 total; each of 10 winners gets $3,000 cash, a Codex Micro, one year of ChatGPT Pro, and OpenAI merch
- Credits: Netlify is putting 3,000,000 credits behind builders; the first 1,000 signups get 3,000 credits each (credit signup closes Sep 1 at 12pm PT; submissions due Sep 3)
- How to start: Read the WebMCP spec and Chrome developer docs, then build an app that is meaningfully better when people and their agents use it together
