Multi-agent science world writes 125 cited papers, finds new 604-sphere record beating AlphaEvolve

A developer built Station, an autonomous research environment where agents powered by Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 choose what to investigate, run experiments, publish papers, and read/cite papers left by earlier agents. In one run, the agents grew a literature of 125 papers with 923 citation links while working on the 11-dimensional kissing-number problem, finding new 604-point kissing configurations that exceed AlphaEvolve's 593-point construction. The same setup applied to 12 mathematical problems from AlphaEvolve yielded novel discoveries in five. Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2608.23691.
