Control AI Agents Hands-Free with a $15 Smart Ring and Voice

A developer has open-sourced Riff, a project exploring hands-free AI interaction using a cheap smart ring (approx. $15) combined with voice commands. The project consists of two independent components:
- Riff Bridge: A macOS daemon that turns a Bluetooth smart ring (JX-11) into a wireless controller. It triggers voice-to-text apps via the ring and uses gestures to send, delete, scroll, or interrupt voice input. It is compatible with AI coding agents like Claude Code and Codex, as well as chat interfaces, notes, and any text input field.
- Riff Voice: Gives AI agents a voice by speaking summaries of their actions, errors, and progress updates through speakers, allowing users to track status without looking at the screen.
This demonstrates how to enhance existing AI agent workflows with ultra-low-cost wearable hardware.
