Practitioner YorkYang5050 shares thoughts on general-purpose robots: ICL, RL, VLA, sim2real, world models, and memory can all contribute.

But a general-purpose robot is still a physical product that must be deployed and deliver real customer value. Deployment challenges show no single technique suffices—it requires a full system with attention to detail across models, hardware, infrastructure, reliability, and operations. Even at the model level, no single idea is the answer; the real challenge is combining approaches so they complement each other and maximize overall system capability and utility.
