Anthropic's MHS Standard Lets AI Agents Control Lab and Factory Hardware via Unified Interface

Anthropic is testing a new approach for Claude to control robots and lab equipment. Its new Model Hardware Standard (MHS) will let AI agents control lab and factory hardware through one shared interface. MHS standardizes device drivers with simple read/write commands and reference files describing capabilities, physical properties, and safety limits. Agents can access drivers via MCP, CLI, or code, and sequence work across devices. Early projects cut integration time from weeks/months to hours/minutes.
