Guardian podcast Black Box revisits facial recognition wrongful arrest of Robert Williams
nordicinst · x · 2026-08-28
The Guardian is resurfacing season one of its AI documentary podcast Black Box ahead of season two in early September. Episode 5, "The white mask," examines facial recognition's double-edged sword: in January 2020, Detroit police arrested Robert Williams for a crime he did not commit — acting on a tipoff that came not from a witness or informant, but from an algorithm.
Hosted by journalist Michael Safi, the series explores the dangers and promises of AI for society through a Nordic-EU lens.
