Paper warns multilingual LLM agent teams hit a "Tower of Babel" coordination breakdown

A research thread highlights that when LLM-powered agents interact with each other in multilingual settings — which is nearly inevitable outside controlled experiments — both coordination and downstream performance suffer, a problem the authors dub the "Tower of Babel".

Among their calls to action: model providers should explicitly specify supported languages, and ensure models refuse to output in languages they don't genuinely support rather than producing degraded results.
