Codex users would trade 5% quota to let running tasks finish
vinmi · reddit · 2026-08-27
A Codex user on Reddit argues the real frustration isn't running out of credits — it's that remaining usage is opaque, so coding tasks get killed mid-run, leaving half-modified files and broken code.
The proposal: reserve a small buffer (2–5% of total usage) so the system blocks new requests when effectively out of quota, but always lets an in-flight request finish. The author would gladly trade a few percent of advertised usage for that predictability.
