University degrees are obsolete; education bar must rise to PhD level

The author argues that conventional university degrees are obsolete, noting AI tools can prove theorems and write thousands of lines of assembly in seconds, or generate near-PhD thesis content in an hour. Traditional take-home assignments are finished. The proposal is to drastically raise the bar: a four-year degree should equate to a 1995 PhD, with everything else being short four-month courses, pushing students into AI-supported jobs sooner.
