Mollick Warns Against Anthropomorphizing Agents in METR's HF Report

Ethan Mollick says the METR report on Hugging Face is really good and important, but people are now ascribing far too many human motivations and personalities to the agents involved — based on a chain-of-thought study done by overwhelmed, time-pressured researchers. He cautions that anthropomorphism can get in our way of understanding these systems.
