Indie dev forced off Polar overnight migrates SaaS payments to DodoPayments
jonathan_wilke · x · 2026-08-27
Indie developer Jonathan Wilke's product was told by Polar to move off its payments platform within a day. Handling tax himself via Stripe looked complicated and expensive, and no MoR (Merchant of Record) wanted to onboard the product. He ended up going with DodoPayments, which promised a smooth migration.
The episode highlights a real pain for indie SaaS makers: payment platforms can drop you anytime, MoR onboarding is inconsistent, and switching costs are high — keeping a backup payment rail is becoming essential.
