Shopify CEO threatens to ban Claude Code over fragmented config files
机器之心 · wechat · 2026-08-26
Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke considered banning Claude Code because it insists on reading CLAUDE.md, while other team tools use AGENTS.md. Maintaining multiple config sets in large monorepos leads to inconsistent project rules for developers, creating a "complexity tax."
While the community suggested solutions like symlinks or file references (@AGENTS.md), Lütke argues this adds maintenance burdens developers shouldn't bear. The Claude Code team responded that they are improving flexibility and currently support compatibility via file references.
