In a conversation with David Senra, Sam Altman labeled a prevailing AI-safety sales pitch as "anti-human". His caricature: some in the field promise a cure for all disease and cheap everything, but in exchange people give up autonomy, influence over the future, and power — all in the name of safety — while rampant inequality concentrates wealth in a few hands and everyone else gets "a pretty good everything". He argued it's a terrible pitch that people nonetheless feel willing to make.
