Eight Sleep pivots to healthcare with FDA bid for sleep apnea treatment

Smart mattress company Eight Sleep is pursuing FDA clearance to detect and treat sleep apnea, aiming to pivot from a luxury gadget to a medical device covered by insurers.
The co-founder stated the filing is progressing smoothly, with clinical studies currently underway. Eight Sleep plans to leverage its massive cache of user data to identify trends and support research. The product, priced around $3,000, is currently sold in 35 countries.
