Prosecutors in Keelung, Taiwan indicted nine people, including Nvidia and Super Micro employees, for illegally shipping AI servers packed with restricted Nvidia chips to China. Defendants allegedly knew the strict export controls but colluded for enormous profit. The hardware has been banned from China under US rules since 2022. Commentators frame it as Beijing routing compute demand it cannot legally buy through Taiwan, the world's top advanced-chip maker.
